The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary was founded by an act of Congress in 1939 and since has been a vital part of Team Coast Guard. Today, with some 28,000 members, the Auxiliary performs essential duties in support roles for the U.S. Coast Guard in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam.
